ERI works in the areas of agroecology and sustainable food system, forestry, NRM and biodiversity, climate change and DRR, water and energy, environment, and public health and eco-tourism. ERI delivers its services in research and evaluation, knowledge management, technical support, capacity building, and designing and managing development programs.
 
Agroecology and Sustainable Food System
ERI facilitates and advocates for an inclusive and deliberative policy process grounded on sound analysis of agriculture policies, livelihood options of rural farmers, and institutional capacity of our public, civic and private institutions. We document exemplary practices and local initiatives on sustainable agriculture, bolster lead farmers and their organizations, capacitate and encourage farmers to engage in national agricultural policy processes, generate critical reviews on ongoing policies and plans and facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue around key policy debates, linking institutions at various levels.
Forestry, NRM and Biodiversity
ERI delivers its services in various areas including development and renewal of Forest Management Plans (District as well as Community based), Forest Sector Strategy Development, Management Plan for National Park and Specific Species Conservation, IEE & EIA, Forest Resource Assessment and Planning, Non-timber Forest Product Management, Natural Resources and Income Generation, Enterprise and Market Development, Pro-poor Focused Natural Resource Biodiversity Management, Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing, and support to different forest management regimes, Eco-tourism.
Advocacy and Campaign
ERI Nepal, a grassroots organization, showcases its strong presence and support to its core vision and mission through social movements, campaigns and networking. It takes action in forms to tackle inequality, stand up for land rights, fight climate change, ensure food security and safety and say enough to violence. Through networking and participation in impactful programs like World Social Forum to conducting World Food day and Raithane Sanjh, it galvanizes efforts towards global issues and demonstrates the commitment for resilient communities, and advocating for equitable distribution of resources.

ERI delivers its services in areas including Reducing Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+), Green Jobs, Alternative and Renewable Energy Promotion and Planning, energy technology transform, Climate Change Adaptation/Mitigation, Climate Vulnerability Assessment, Disaster Risk Management, Green Technology, GIS and Remote Sensing, development and review of plans and policies (climate policy, LAPAs etc.), monitoring and evaluation, DRMP Development, Vulnerability Assessment, Good Practice Documentation, Water Shed Management.

Program Evaluation
The evaluation function at ERI serves both learning and accountability purposes for various stakeholders including donors. Our evaluation mechanism aims to provide credible and timely assessment of the ongoing and completed programmes or projects in terms of their relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, coherence and sustainability with sound and rigorous empirical methods. Much of our evaluation has been mapped into environmental and developmental context.
Sustainable Development
ERI Nepal reaffirms its full support to SDGs and its commitment to contribute to their realization. Our mission and vision are heralded to achieve sustainable development Goals, reflected in engagements and carried out activities. We collaborate with the target community, their institutions, and governmental stakeholders, adopting a bottom up approach to ensure the sustainability of the program or project. Moreover, Partnership with the donors and organizations having common objective is our utmost priority, as working in a silo won’t achieve sustainable outcomes.
IEE AND EIA
ERI Nepal conducts initial Environmental Examination and Environmental Impact assessment along with its assessment and dissemination of information. Spearheaded by the experts in the field, we carried out IEE and EIA of various national parks facilitating in the database management and coherences.
Renewable Energy
ERI commits on the cooperation for the improved access of renewable energy and energy efficient solutions for Nepalese communities. To support this, we crafted energy and climate change plan for five districts alongside Alternative Energy promotion Centre and Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. On top of that, we assessed the risks and plans of sustainable energy project and programmes.
Economics
ERI in close liaison with ForestAction Nepal, has been trailblazer in exploring economic as well as market dimension of forestry sector. Similarly, it attempts to support poverty alleviation and sustainable development through the increased use of environmental economics in the policy making process. And promotes ecology based sustainable food system to revitalize traditional or subsistence based economies.
