On 2nd August 2025, a half-day interactive session was organized by ERI Nepal in collaboration with FAN and students from Lamjung Campus. The event was attended by around 50 students currently pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, along with the campus chief, professors, and FAN team members.
The session focused on a range of topics, including contemporary issues and challenges of conventional agriculture, the future of our agriculture sector, the role of youth in this sector, and other multi-dimensional aspects of agriculture that students were curious about.
Students actively engaged in the discussion, sharing their journeys in the field of agriculture and reflecting on their aspirations and visions for the future. They also expressed concerns about the growing disinterest among youth in agricultural studies and farming, along with dissatisfaction towards our education system that remains heavily theory-oriented, offering limited practical exposure.
The genuine concerns expressed by the students highlights significant challenges in the sector. All stakeholders must respond proactively to ensure a supportive environment for the future leaders of agriculture.
